Over the course of this course I have learned to find a new appreciation for the art community and the contributions made by the multitude of artists throughout time and across the world. Studying Escher and what he has accomplished summarizes the amount of time, creativity, energy that goes into producing works of art, and the sacrifices made by artists every day. It is truly astounding to analyze what goes on in the art world. Artists experience just as much if not more criticism than any other profession in the world, not only for what they are doing but for the quality of their work as perceived by so-called experts. Escher's slow rise to fame is indicative of just how complex art really is in the sense that it just takes one person to write off a work, but takes several to appreciate it for what it is.
